This technique traces back to sumi-e, the ancient art of Japanese ink painting, where gradation and texture reveal beauty through restraint. In Japan, ink and paint industries perfected this craft long ago: pigments and solvents merge seamlessly. This same technique gives Skin Veil its depth of colour and a finish that feels like a second skin.

Most foundation manufacturers rely on dry dispersion - grinding pigments into powder before mixing - which often leaves colour flat and texture disconnected.
