No matter what style or age
When a journalist asked Ellis which person defined beauty for her, the immediate answer was "Children! No matter what they look like, I love their honesty and curiosity. It shows in their faces.”
Children don’t overthink beauty, they simply play. That’s exactly why Ellis loved making this film so much. Watching kids explore colour, texture and expression without hesitation reminded her of something essential: beauty begins where rules fall away. Ellis always believed that makeup should feel like freedom, not perfection. She often said that her products were created to be as flexible as possible: tools you can shape, smudge, blend or reinvent in any way you like. The only real instruction was to follow your own instinct.
“Beauty is at its best when it’s alive, imperfect and full of imagination.”
As she put it: “Pick a colour you love or one you’d never normally choose and apply it in any shape you fancy. If you don’t like the result, just take it off and try again. It’s only makeup, so play.” A reminder for grown‑ups to reclaim the same sense of curiosity children carry so naturally. This film captures that spirit. A group of wonderful kids - Amelie, Angie, Boaz, Doris, Faye, Gala, Hélène, Hugo, Isabelle, Jules, Julie, Leonora, Lieve, Luna, Mats, Mick, Nina, Rani, Sarah, Senne, Sophia, Stella and Suzy - exploring colour the way Ellis always hoped people would. Freely, joyfully, without rules.
Created by Deep Thought Productions for ELLIS FAAS, with music by Flavia Faas, the film is a small tribute to Ellis’ belief that beauty is at its best when it’s alive, imperfect and full of imagination. Press play, and let them remind you how fun makeup can be.
